Eleanor & Park

Hi, welcome to another review, another book I have had read in the month of September. I'm not going to babble too much but I have to warn you before I start, this post will be a lot lot lot of SPOILER. I have warned you. Without further due, let's get started.

Title: Eleanor & Park
Author: Rainbow Rowell
Publisher: St. Martin's Press
Pages: 328
Genre: Young Adult, Contemporary, Romance, Fiction

Source: Owned by me

Synopsis

Eleanor...Red hair, wrong clothes. Standing behind him until he turns his head. Lying beside him until he wakes up. Making everyone else seem drabber and flatter and never good enough...Eleanor

Park...He knows she"ll love a song before he plays it for her. He laughs at her jokes before she ever gets to the punch line. There's a place on his chest, just below his throat, that makes her want to keep promises...Park.

Set over the course of one school year, this is the story of two star-crossed sixteen-year-old- smart enough to know that first love almost never lasts, but brave and desperate enough to try.

Review

This is my first time reading, Rainbow Rowell's novel, though the book has been in my sister's shelf for quite some time now and only now I have the feeling to read the book. Nevertheless, her writing was so good, very straight forward and it is very easy for us to read and I'm enjoying her writing very much.

It is a story about Eleanor, a girl who has been transferred and moved to Omaha, living with her Stepdad and her mom and also her siblings in a tiny house with only two bedrooms. While Park is a Korean boy who has been living in Omaha for his whole life. And both of them met in a school bus, sitting side by side and eventually, they falling in love. Very sweet, indeed. It makes me want to be in love again.

There's only one of him, she thought, and he's right here. He knows I'll like a song before I've heard it. He laughs before I even get to the punch line. There's a place on his chest, just below his throat, that makes me want to let him open doors for me. There's only one of him.

These two lovebirds were definitely very sweet together and it is heartbreaking when they have to separate for her own good. It's their first love and first time to be in a serious relationship but she is scared that it won't be last forever. I literally cried when I read the book and laugh and smile like crazy and getting mad throughout reading this book.

What I can say about this story is that it try to tell us about a girl who has been bullied by her stepdad and friends for her school. Oh gosh! I seriously hated her dad and why her mom is still want to be with him? Can't she see that her daughter is suffered because of him and she has been tortured/abused by her husband? Now, that's the reality, that has happened around us, that we were not really aware of it. Whilst, Park has, well, we can say as a perfect, beautiful, humble family and of course, Eleanor has a little bit of envy with his life.

Well, honestly, I'm a bit frustrated and disappointed with the ending of the stories. The ending was like hanging? It's like trying to finish it very fast? How could Eleanor and Park separated just like that and why is she only reply to his letter after like a year? Why isn't Park visiting her at her Uncle's house in Minnesota? What happens to Eleanor's Mom and her siblings? OMG! What just happen to them? I need an answer to that.

All in all, when I read this book, it's like remind me of Nicholas Spark's novel. I don't know if it's me feeling like this or do you feel like that too? Overall, I love the stories, even though the ending were not really satisfying.
