Synopsis

"Keep smiling and being you. Don't let the world change you."

Hello Me, It's You is a collection of letters by young adult aged 17-24 about their experiences with mental health issues. The letters are written to their 16-year-old selves, giving beautifully honest, advice, insight and encouragement for all that lays ahead of them.

This book was produced by the Hello Me, It's You charity, set up by editor, Hannah. Hannah was diagnosed with depression and anxiety whilst at the university and found comfort in talking to friends about their experiences, realising she was not alone in her situation. This inspired the idea for the charity and book. Through the creation of material such as this, the charity aims to provide reassurance for young adults (and their families) who are experiencing mental health and give a voice to young adults on such an important topic. The result of that will hopefully be a reduction in the negative stigma surrounding mental health and an increase in awareness of young people's experiences. All profits go the Hello Me, It's You charity, for the production of future supportive books.

Thoughts

This is my first time reading a non-fiction book, let alone, a mental health issue. Mental health is not a trivial issue instead it is a crucial issue, that we should be aware of it. We need to reach them, give help to them, because you might not realize that it happens around us, if it's not you, the people we love, without us realize, they were suffering alone, and this book is definitely an eye-opener to everyone in this whole wide world. Why do I say that? Because, this book is a compilation of a letter from the person who was suffering from depression and anxiety, they've had shared from what they have experienced throughout their life and giving a piece of advice to themselves, also to anyone who is suffering from this mental issue.

I recommend you to read this book, so that, you will understand more in depth, what have they experience, and how they try to cope with it. It is an issue that we should be aware of, and look upon it.
