5 Popular YA Books of 2017 I Have Not Yet Read

books

2018 will approach us in just a few days to go and do you believe that? I just feel like yesterday we are celebrating Eid Ul Fitri and now, what? New Year? Okay. Okay. That's enough. Anyway, I feel like I haven't read enough books this year. It seems like everything is out of hand and it is a mess. I mean, my reading. What even more, I don't think I read much of books that were published in 2017 and here, I'm going to share with you - 5 Popular books that are being loved by everyone and I have not yet read it, worst - owning the book. Goodness!

Nevertheless, let's jump into the books that I'm talking about.

The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas

Published: February 28th, 2017
GR Rating: 4.59/5

Sixteen-year-old Starr Carter moves between two worlds: the poor neighborhood where she lives and the fancy suburban prep school she attends. The uneasy balance between these worlds is shattered when Starr witnesses the fatal shooting of her childhood best friend Khalil at the hands of a police officer. Khalil was unarmed.

Just in case, if you have not yet known, The Hate U Give (THUG) by Angie Thomas has won a Goodreads Choice 2017! I heard many wonderful things about THUG and it is also going to hit the cinema soon. So, I told myself to pick as soon as possible but (I know I should not give any excuse, still..) due to enormous TBR pile that needed to read quickly, it has been push down. Thus, I decided to read it by January 2018.

Saints and Misfits by S.K Ali

Published: June 13th, 2017
GR Rating: 3.88/5
Janna Yusuf knows a lot of people can’t figure out what to make of her…an Arab Indian-American hijabi teenager who is a Flannery O’Connor obsessed book nerd, aspiring photographer, and sometime graphic novelist is not exactly easy to put into a box.

Do you know that Saints and Misfits' character is a Muslim Teen? It's AMAZING! I'm feeling kind of ashamed that I didn't pick this book as fast as I can. Anyhow, I'm going to buy this book soon when I got my paycheck.

Warcross (Warcross #1) by Marie Lue

Published: September 12th, 2017
GR Rating: 4.22/5

For the millions who log in every day, Warcross isn’t just a game—it’s a way of life. The obsession started ten years ago and its fan base now spans the globe, some eager to escape from reality and others hoping to make a profit. Struggling to make ends meet, teenage hacker Emika Chen works as a bounty hunter, tracking down players who bet on the game illegally.

I have seen Booktubers, Book Bloggers, Readers around the world talking how incredible Warcross is and that instantly, I'm curious is this book about and why everyone loves it but still didn't pick it up yet(!) though anytime soon I'm going to read the book and share you here on my blog.

Wonder Woman: Warbinger (DC Icons #1) by Leigh Bardugo

Published: August 28th, 2017
GR Rating: 4.14/5

Daughter of immortals.

Princess Diana longs to prove herself to her legendary warrior sisters. But when the opportunity finally comes, she throws away her chance at glory and breaks Amazon law—risking exile—to save a mortal. Diana will soon learn that she has rescued no ordinary girl, and that with this single brave act, she may have doomed the world.

It's retelling of Wonder Woman and for me, When I watch a movie from DC, the characters that I like the most is Wonder Woman. Not that I hate other characters (no, I'm not, okay!) but do I need to give a reason? I guess not, I just love Wonder Woman, that's all.

When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon

Published: May 30th, 2017
GR Rating: 3.8/5

The Shahs and Patels didn’t mean to start turning the wheels on this “suggested arrangement” so early in their children’s lives, but when they noticed them both gravitate toward the same summer program, they figured, Why not?

By reading the synopsis, I know it is a cute story and the fact that there is an Indian culture in it thinking it will be like watching a Bollywood movie. Sure, I'm going to buy this book anytime soon.

There are more spectacular Young Adult books were published in 2017 that I have not yet read and didn't include in here. No worries (it is more like, trying to tell myself) I'm going to read those book been published 2017 and before too. Well, because I want to and I do realize there are more amazing books will be published in 2018.

Anyhow, there you go my - 5 Popular YA Books of 2017 I Have Not Yet Read.

See you soon in my next post. Have a wonderful holiday!

  3. I'm currently reading The Hate U Give and I hope I can finish it before 2018. I read Saints and Misfits and it was awesome! The topics that the book covers are so relatable and accurate. I'm really looking forward on reading Eliza and Her Monsters and The Upside of Unrequited. These books are so hyped and I can't wait to read them.
