On the night that Aunty dies the Raggedy Witches come for Mup's mam. Pale, cold, relentless, they will do anything to coax Mam back to Witches Borough. When they kidnap Mup's dad, Mup and her mam must leave the mundane world to rescue him. But Mam is strange on this side of the border - striding, powerful, and distant. Even if they can save Dad, Mup is not sure anything will ever be the same again.

thoughts

At the very first few pages has given you the eerie feeling when Mup is on the road with her mother to get home where she saw a dark figure flying above and following them straight to home. As to how the author described the dark figure, I felt that it sounds like a dementor from Harry Potter's world. Also from the first two chapters, the author has brought her reader away from the mundane world to a world of magic that has been ruled by the evil queen and Mup with her mom, her baby brother also her dog, Badger is on a mission to rescue her father that has been taken by the witches to lure Mup's mother to be back to their world - her birthplace.

Begone the Raggedy Witches had held my attention right from the start to the end of the story which has put my emotion on a rollercoaster. There are times when I feel relax with their journey - when Mup met a boy who can turn into a crow and they get along together but there are times when I feel so angry towards Mup's decision also sad on what she has to go through and there are unexpectable things happened - people who you thought is like but it is not.

Aside from that, seeing Mup's character, knowing that she is still a kid, she held a responsibility and determination to help her mother rescuing her dad also bring her brother, dog and her dad home safely has 'wow' me on how she able to handle all task wonderfully though I have to admit there are times, I did felt annoyed with her but most of all, she is indeed a brave girl. She even made a quick decision on each path and in any situation, she is able to decide fast and face it without showing any fear.

Before I'm spoiling way too much story of Begone Raggedy Witches, it's better I made my conclusion now. I am definitely enjoying my reading right from the beginning towards the end of the adventure, the author's writing is magnificent, the way she describes each of the thing, place, and people especially when they change from a boy/girl into an animal form is amazing.

I have to say the ending is satisfying because there is no cliff-hanging and I am certain their journey is not the end but is the beginning of something new in their life.

If you are a sucker for fantasy adventure with witches the character will need to face then I sure recommend you reading Begone the Raggedy Witches (The Wild Magic Trilogy #1) by Celine Kiernan.
