Synopsis

Cassidy Blake's parents are The Inspectres, a (somewhat inept) ghost-hunting team. But Cass herself can REALLY see ghosts. In fact, her best friend, Jacob, just happens to be one.

When The Inspectres head to ultra-haunted Edinburgh, Scotland, for their new TV show, Cass—and Jacob—come along. In Scotland, Cass is surrounded by ghosts, not all of them friendly. Then she meets Lara, a girl who can also see the dead. But Lara tells Cassidy that as an In-betweener, their job is to send ghosts permanently beyond the Veil. Cass isn't sure about her new mission, but she does know the sinister Red Raven haunting the city doesn't belong in her world. Cassidy's powers will draw her into an epic fight that stretches through the worlds of the living and the dead, in order to save herself.

thoughts

The moment I turn to the first page, I could not avoid the creepy feeling and yet, I am really enjoyed reading this novel following Cassidy's adventure to the in-between world.

Cassidy has the ability to see ghosts and enter the in-between world also, her best friend, Jacob is..a ghost. Cassidy and Jacob make an amazing duo to run from the ghosts, to fight the ghosts with Jacob's witty's character makes the story entertaining to read and less creepy.

The story set in Scotland which I think the author has made me who never been to Scotland able to imagine how does the place look like and how creepy it can be. The plot setting is very straightforward, easy to follow and able to read in one sitting but I read in two-sitting because when I'm about halfway to finish the book, it was already midnight and suddenly, my is hair-raising so, I decided to put them down until the next morning. Honestly, the book is not really terrifying but quite creepy, in my opinion. However, I want more from the story, no, I need more.

I like Cassidy and Jacob's character. Both of them is quite hilarious and has a witty character. Then comes Lara into the picture, she is quite quirky but not many stories from her but I do like her presence to help Cassidy when she stuck in the in-between world.

This is the very first novel I read written by Victoria Schwab and I really love her writing which is why I'm going to buy all her books as soon as I can also I'm excited to see what is next in Cassidy Blake's adventure.

  1. Hi, Neat post. There's an issue with your site in internet explorer, might test this?
IE nonetheless is the marketplace chief and a big element of other people
will omit your excellent writing because of this problem.
