Synopsis

The Shadowhunters of Los Angeles star in the first novel in Cassandra Clare’s newest series, The Dark Artifices, a sequel to the internationally bestselling Mortal Instruments series. Lady Midnight is a Shadowhunters novel.

It’s been five years since the events of City of Heavenly Fire that brought the Shadowhunters to the brink of oblivion. Emma Carstairs is no longer a child in mourning, but a young woman bent on discovering what killed her parents and avenging her losses.

Together with her parabatai Julian Blackthorn, Emma must learn to trust her head and her heart as she investigates a demonic plot that stretches across Los Angeles, from the Sunset Strip to the enchanted sea that pounds the beaches of Santa Monica. If only her heart didn’t lead her in treacherous directions…

Making things even more complicated, Julian’s brother Mark—who was captured by the faeries five years ago—has been returned as a bargaining chip. The faeries are desperate to find out who is murdering their kind—and they need the Shadowhunters’ help to do it. But time works differently in faerie, so Mark has barely aged and doesn’t recognize his family. Can he ever truly return to them? Will the faeries really allow it?

Glitz, glamours, and Shadowhunters abound in this heartrending opening to Cassandra Clare’s Dark Artifices series.

thoughts

It's really been a while since I last visit the Shadow Hunter world and God, I miss this world. It feels great to be back in Shadow Hunter World.

In this Shadow Hunter world is the adventure of two young parabatai - Emma Carstairs and Julian Blackthorn. I do not want to go into details of what this book is about and what happened. There's no any reason for it, it just that I want you to read and enjoy the story like how I did enjoy reading it despite how thick this book is but the story is what all matters and I'm happy that I get to read and join this Shadow Hunter world again.

Blackthorn's family is amazing. Their family relationship is what I really love. They are very close to each other and always have each other backs no matter what situation they are in. The way Julian Blackthorn brought this family together is what amazed me so much about him. Julian, he is a family man, he is not only being a brother to his siblings but also being parents to them - taking care and protect them in every way he can. He such an amazing man to his family also to his parabatai, Emma Carstairs.

Also, Emma, she is a strong woman despite what had happened to her parents. Although, I was annoyed with her at first, however, in the end, she is truly an amazing woman and a shadowhunter. Although, they said you cannot be in love with your own parabatai but I cannot help to ship Emma and Julian being together. They just make the perfect couple just like Jace and Clary.

Honestly, the beginning of the chapter was a kinda slow and I was like, 'what's going on actually?', however, pages after pages, Ithe story started to develop amazingly and I started to get even more curious to what happened and why it happened and who is responsible for that mess. So, now I know who is the Lady Midnight is and I'm cannot wait to read the next installation of this book. OMG! I seriously need it like urgently need the second book of this story. The world building were amazing because we are talking about shadow hunter world, guys and the characters in this book are amazing! I love them all and now, I want more of this story.
