A safe haven between four realms. The girl sworn to protect it--at any cost.

Hidden deep in the mountains of Colorado lies the Inn at Havenfall, a sanctuary that connects ancient worlds--each with their own magic--together. For generations, the inn has protected all who seek refuge within its walls, and any who disrupt the peace can never return.

For Maddie Morrow, summers at the inn are more than a chance to experience this magic first-hand. Havenfall is an escape from reality, where her mother sits on death row accused of murdering Maddie's brother. It's where Maddie fell in love with handsome Fiorden soldier Brekken. And it's where one day she hopes to inherit the role of Innkeeper from her beloved uncle.

But this summer, the impossible happens--a dead body is found, shattering everything the inn stands for. With Brekken missing, her uncle gravely injured, and a dangerous creature on the loose, Maddie suddenly finds herself responsible for the safety of everyone in Havenfall. She'll do anything to uncover the truth, even if it means working together with an alluring new staffer Taya, who seems to know more than she's letting on. As dark secrets are revealed about the inn itself, one thing becomes clear to Maddie--no one can be trusted, and no one is safe . . .

The blurbs of the book catch my heart makes me excited to dive into this fascinating fantasy world. The chapters start with an introduction to each of the realm which very very interesting and help us to understand it.

The inn at Havenfall is the passageway between the world around, however, it is now only open to only two realms and Solaria's door has been sealed. Why? Well, that is for you to find out.  Every year, the inn at Havenfall will organize a summit where the other two realms will be attending a meeting to negotiate.

Maddie Morrow's uncle runs the inn at Havenfall and that place becomes Maddie's safest place to stay and she dreams when her uncle names her as his inheritor she will able to live there permanently. Instead of doing an internship at an insurance company, she decided to go to the inn to spend her whole summer. Somehow, something wicked happened which she now finds herself hold a big responsibility for the safety of delegates from the Adjacent Realms also at the same time, she needs to find who is the on open the doorway of Solaria and what she needs to do and to whom she needs to trust to.

The plot was a really interesting, very promising story. A slow burn introduction of this whole new fantasy world and characters with a mystery that needs to be uncovered and fill with magic which is so cool. Though I can't hide the fact I'm kind of a bit disappointed because I'm hoping that the story will bring us to visit to all these other amazing realms but it does not happen yet as of now. The plot twist/mystery of who done it has makes me curious and push me to speed read so that I can get the answer of who he is. Although towards half of the chapter I kind of could figure who actually so it doesn't have those surprise elements much.

Overall, the magical, mystery elements are one of the very reason that holds me to stay. Please, don't get me wrong. I'm not saying it wasn't that good because it was really cool with these fascinating realms and all. I enjoy reading it actually. I'm looking forward to the next installments which I hope the author will bring us a more exciting journey of this fantasy/mystery story.
