Something is rotten in the heart of Winterkeep...
Four years after Bitterblue left off, a new land has been discovered to the east: Torla; and the closest nation to Monsea is Winterkeep. Winterkeep is a land of miracles, a democratic republic run by people who like each other, where people speak to telepathic sea creatures, adopt telepathic foxes as pets, and fly across the sky in ships attached to balloons.
But when Bitterblue’s envoys to Winterkeep drown under suspicious circumstances, she and Giddon and her half sister, Hava, set off to discover the truth–putting both Bitterblue’s life and Giddon’s heart to the test when Bitterbue is kidnapped. Giddon believes she has drowned, leaving him and Hava to solve the mystery of what’s wrong in Winterkeep.
Lovisa Cavenda is the teenage daughter of a powerful Scholar and Industrialist (the opposing governing parties) with a fire inside her that is always hungry, always just nearly about to make something happen. She is the key to everything, but only if she can figure out what’s going on before anyone else, and only if she’s willing to transcend the person she’s been all her life.

Review
The truth is, I, honestly didn't realize at all that this book is a series. It is a Graceling Realm series. I mean I haven't read the first book yet. You can't imagine how panic I am when I open my goodreads app. I was like, 'OMG! CAN I READ THIS WITHOUT READING 3 BOOKS BEFORE THIS ONE? CAN I READ AS STANDALONE??!" Yeah, I'm literally screaming inside me. Eventually, I googled it and I saw on google, they says we can read this book as standalone and I'm so relief by that.
I was so enchanted by the cover illustration and attracted to read from the blurb itself. You know what, I think this is the first YA fantasy I read for the year 2021. Honestly, I avoid to read fantasy because I've read a lot in the last two years so I figure I want to focus my read with other genre and it felt so GOOD to be back in YA Fantasy world again.
Winterkeep is AMAZING! I fall in love with the worldbuilding. It makes me crave for more of it and I, for sure going to find the other first three book in the series. Many have said they love the Graceling Realm series and I want to be part of that. I want to love this series as much as I love Winterkeep. The worldbuilding felt so magically fantastic. It is like once you're in this book, it is so hard to get yourself out from it. The story is quite twisty, you know but that what makes me love the book even more. I like how it told in multiple POV which it helps to know what is in their mind.
Overall. Winterkeep is really has captivated my heart. It is beautifully crafted. It is hard to move on since I feel so attached with the world but I have to because I need to explore the other three books that I haven't visit yet. This is the best fantasy I have read this year.
