Review
As a bookworm myself, I am overjoyed to learn that the MC works in the publishing industry! Even more, she is bookish herself. I like, please take my time. I'm in! The MC is sweet and I love her energy. She has an amazing friend by her side. Lanie has been given the task of getting Noa's manuscript to be delivered as soon as she can. By all means, she needs to push Noa to hand her the manuscript, as it is already 4 months late. For that, she will be promoted to become an editorial director. Here's the difficult part: no one actually knows who Noa is. When she knows who Noa is, She was shocked!
My first thought when I saw this book was that it would follow the trope of enemies turning into lovers. Well, it kind of gives that vibe. Somehow, it goes down to the south. I didn't feel it was in that trope that much. I mean, they fight, but not in that way. If you know what I mean, then you know. The romance in this book is cute. I will not complain because it is still sweet, funny, and I'm swooning. In spite of all that, I need to warn you that it is a slow-burn romance. Just like how it is mentioned early in the book, I think it is a meet-cute. I wish the ending wasn't how it is. My brain was forced to stop processing. I need more than what it gives.
"Love is never so easy as it is on the pages of a book."
I love how Noa and Lanie decide to open up by telling the story of their mother. I know that it is difficult to share one, but they managed. I've never been to New York, but the author has brought me to the place without being there. I hope one day I'm able to visit New York!
Overall, I loved the stories right from the beginning. The author managed to make me sit still to read. Read in two sittings. I'm proud of myself. The characters in this book are all lovable. However, the ending doesn't give satisfaction. Despite that, I still like it!
