Review
The story begins at the boarding school. Cassie has gone through a difficult life at the school. She was bullied by the students there. So, one day, she decided to escape from school. Along the escape journey, she found out that she has magic, but she doesn't know how. She met a cat who told her almost everything and brought her to the place where she was supposed to be. She learns magic, finds friendship, and knows the history of her life. When everything turns weird, Cassie knows something is not right and she needs to fix it.
The beginning of the book may take a bit of time for you to digest the story and pick up the pace, but I promise you, right after that, it was really amazing. I was mesmerised by the story, and the illustration is magnificent. The magical elements, the faeries, are what I am looking forward to in this book. I'm sure the young children will enjoy reading this book as much as an adult like me really does enjoy reading Hedgewitch. It was a fun and easy read.
Thank you Pansing for the review copy in return for an honest review.
Synopsis
First in a magical five-book series for readers of Nevermoor, The Worst Witch and The Dark Is Rising.
It has been seven years since Cassie Morgan last saw her mother. Left at a dreary boarding school, she spends her days hiding from the school bully and reading forbidden story books about the world of Faerie.
Certain that her mother is still alive, Cassie is determined to find her, whatever the dangers, and runs away from school. Lost and alone, she is chased by a pack of goblins but, to her surprise, escapes with the help of a flying broom and a talking cat named Montague, who takes her to the cosy village of Hedgely.
Here she discovers that she comes from a family of witches, women who protect Britain from the denizens of Faerie, who are all too real and far more frightening than her story books suggest.
