Synopsis

The first book in a laugh-out-loud funny adventure series for 8+ readers from popular radio personalities Greg James and Chris Smith.

When Murph Cooper rocks up to his new school several weeks into the beginning of term, he can't help but feel a bit out of his depth.

And it's not because he's worried about where to sit, and making friends, and fitting in, or not knowing where the loos are. It's because his mum has enrolled him at a school for superheroes by mistake. And unlike his fellow students, who can all control the weather or fly or conjure tiny horses from thin air, Murph has no special abilities whatsoever.

But just because you don't have superpowers, it doesn't mean you can't save the day. Let's hope Murph realises that, and quick - because not far away is a great big bad guy who is half man and half wasp, and his mind is abuzz with evil plans.

It's time for Kid Normal to become a hero!

Perfect for fans of David Solomons, David Baddiel and Danny Wallace.

Featuring brilliant illustrations by Erica Salcedo throughout.

review

Why in the world I have not realized the existence of this book before? What have I been doing all this time? Duh. Anyhow, let's not talking about that part much because Kid Normal is certainly a book that has a lot of fun that you will discover during reading Kid Normal. Now that being said, let me talk briefly about what this book is about.

Murph Cooper has been moved to many schools which is quite normal for him when his mom has been placed in a new workplace but not until he moves into this new town that taking quite long time to find a school for him since most of the school are already closed their application and most of it has enough numbers of students. Until one day, Murph and his mom stumble upon a school named "The School". A simple name but filled thousands of secrets which Murph will be discovered soon once he enrolls in it. Funnily, there are some misunderstanding words that happened between the teacher and Murph's mom which the word is "flying" and he was accepted to school because of that word since the teacher thought he could actually fly by all means he has the capability of flying. So, what will happen to Murph and how his journey is going to be? You shall read it if you want to know more about it! *wink*

I'm a sucker for superpowers and superheroes stories book and Kid Normal is a book that I really would love to dove it and having fun with my reading journey. Kid Normal is a fun, hilarious and amusing reading it was and my inner child is screaming for the fun of it. When I started reading Kid Normal, Murph's character felt so close to me as I know how it feels to move around and the needs to make new friends after another school which leads to not having a real best friends when I was in primary school but I have to say, it was fun even though it's really tough to get used to a new environment and new school.

Anyway, back to my thought for Kid Normal. I actually loved all the characters in this book as they all having different capabilities from summoning horses to flying to tele-tech to control storm clouds - how cool was that? How it was a blast when they all make a team to save their classmates. It was great and cool and amazing reading all the way as I am excited about the stories and the characters in the book itself hence, I shall read the second book right away. Of course, when there are superheroes there are also villains that are what makes the stories as interesting as it can be. No, I won't spoil about the stories more as you should read it and enjoy your reading, guys!

Besides that, the way both of the authors' writing in a narrative style that is so simple yet amazing that I as a reader feels so easy to fall in love with the stories and their writing style also the story paced is quite fast but not really fast makes us readers get to grasp all the fun and the humorous words.

Oh! I almost forgot! My goodness! What makes my reading even more delightful is the illustrations in this book is awesome!

Overall, it was a fun reading and I'm able to read it into two sitting because I am the person who could not sit still until I know what happens next which means I would rather not sleeping but continue my reading which I don't think so I could as I have to wake early in the morning to do my work but I manage to finish my reading during my lunch break (the perks of fasting month, I can continue my reading!). So, if you are a sucker for superheroes stories with superpowers, why not pick a Kid Normal by Greg James & Chris Smith's book and enjoy your wonderful reading.

  1. Can I simply say what a relief to discover someone who genuinely understands what they
are talking about on the web. You actually know how to bring
an issue to light and make it important. More people ought to check this out
and understand this side of your story. I was surprised you're not more popular since you most certainly
    have the gift.

  2. Hmm it looks like your blog ate my first comment (it was super long)
so I guess I'll just sum it up what I had written and say, I'm thoroughly enjoying your blog.
I as well am an aspiring blog blogger but I'm still new
to the whole thing. Do you have any helpful hints for inexperienced
blog writers? I'd certainly appreciate it.
