Synopsis
Midnight bike rides in pyjamas, missing dogs, buried treasure, one birthday meal, one luscious pineapple upside-down cake and mysterious activities at the local hotel...
It's been a while since I last read books by Enid Blyton. Although this time around, The Secret Seven series is written by Pamela Butchart. Reading The Secret Seven, it does bring back my memories when I was a kid who has been introduced by the family to read books by Enid Blyton.
This time The Secret Seven has a mission that needs to be solved by them after a mystery of skull appears at Peter's room. Coincidentally, at the same time, someone is digging a huge hole near the hotel. The new owner of the hotel acted very strangely. Thus, The Secret Seven decided to start their investigation from the hotel. Who are they? What is their purpose in digging those holes?
It might not be the same as the original The Secret Seven, but I still find it enjoyable to read an adventure brought by The Secret Seven teams. I like how the teams work together to find a clue for the investigation and how they come up with wonderful ideas in order to strike forward towards their investigation.
The writing is amazing, easy flow and can read in one sitting (but I read in two sittings as I started my reading at midnight). I bet the finishing copy is definitely will be great that will attract kids who read this book with the beautiful illustrations. That being said, I'm thinking to buy all The Secret Seven books because my old copies have lost due to moving to a new house several times.
My inner kid jumps all the way as the memories getting back to me on how much I adore this book. There are no words I can say how much I love this book and the fact that the adventure still continues although written by another author, it still feels wonderful. I hope all the kids who will be going to read this book will be enjoying reading the adventure!
