review

Open Road Summer is a story about two girls (Reagan & Lilah) who have been best friends since forever. Reagan has decided to accompanied her best friend, Lilah Montgomery, a famous country singer for a summer tour trips. It is an escape trip for Reagan to reflect her past action and to come home to start fresh. Aside from having a dream come true to have a summer trip with a best friend from one state to another, of course, there is some fluffy cute romance comes around.

Reagan is a tough person for you to deal with. Her childhood isn't something that she likes talking about as her mother leave her and her dad. She became rebellious - do what she thinks she wants. Her life is tough enough for her, but thankfully, she has a best friend who never leaves her side.

"My therapist once told me: you are the only person who can build emotional barriers, but you're also the only person who can topple them. Other people can't knock down the walls you've built, no matter how much they love you."

Reagan has a strong personality which one side is good but somehow, on the other part, I do feel annoyed with her. She always has this negative thought, kind of judgmental about this and that, I couldn't help myself to not to roll my eyes on her throughout reading this book. Of course, there are some good aspects comes from her like she is a good friend to Lilah, loyal to her and she has an ambition that she wants to fulfill. Lilah is such a sweet friend. Undeniably, a friend that we always want to have one in our life. Then, comes this handsome, sweet romance guy who heads over heel on Reagan.

The setting of this book is actually on a bus and a few times, in the hotel or at a concert venue. It's understandable that this is a concert tour trip which means the setting was like that and I have no problem with that all because, for me, it's sound fun. It's not a typical bus it's a huge bus that has everything in it. I feel like, I want to have one - the huge bus, I mean.

So, anyway, Open Road Summer sound wonderful to me because we are talking about a summer trip with a best friend - things that I've always imagine to have one. Although, the book is predictable from the start like you know what will happen at the end of the book though I still enjoy reading the whole book. If you are looking for a light, cute romance reading, Open Road Summer is the book you may want to read.
