Synopsis
Of course, I want to be like them. They’re beautiful as blades forged in some divine fire. They will live forever.
And Cardan is even more beautiful than the rest. I hate him more than all the others. I hate him so much that sometimes when I look at him, I can hardly breathe.
Jude was seven years old when her parents were murdered and she and her two sisters were stolen away to live in the treacherous High Court of Faerie. Ten years later, Jude wants nothing more than to belong there, despite her mortality. But many of the fey despise humans. Especially Prince Cardan, the youngest and wickedest son of the High King.
To win a place at the Court, she must defy him–and face the consequences.
In doing so, she becomes embroiled in palace intrigues and deceptions, discovering her own capacity for bloodshed. But as civil war threatens to drown the Courts of Faerie in violence, Jude will need to risk her life in a dangerous alliance to save her sisters, and Faerie itself.

"A dark, twisted world, complicated yet mesmerizing characters."
Honestly, I am still stuck in the faerie world created by Holly Black. I've no idea how to begin my review though, I am still want to pour out my thoughts of how it has enchanting me in this dark, twisted world of the immortal faeries and a set of mortal twins.
As soon as I begin my reading, it has hit me hard with brutal death scenes that put my mouth hang open as I am utterly shocked by what had happened to Jude, Taryn and Vi's parents which lead them to begin their new life in the Courts of Faerie. The story follows with Jude Duarte, a mortal girl who has been struggling to live surrounded by immortal faeries and for that, she made a great effort to become a knighthood of the court of faerie. Somehow, her presence, intelligence, the attitude has attracted the high prince, Prince Cardan - the most annoying prince in the courts of faerie.
There are so many interesting characters in this book and yet, their characters all are very well developed and none of them have been left out which made me enjoy more on reading this book. Despite, the characters are being deadly and a brutal faerie which I forever hate them but that makes this whole book - fantastic!
“What could I become if I stopped worrying about death, about pain, about anything? If I stopped trying to belong? Instead of being afraid, I could become something to fear.”
Jude, she is a SUPER hot-headed girl, an intelligent mortal girl, she knows what she's doing and like it says in the book, mortal human know how to lie. Jude does not give me time to rest to guess what will happen next because she'll not be going to stay still. She is like a volcano ready to erupt and I like her character.
“I have lied and I have betrayed and I have triumphed. If only there was someone to congratulate me.”
What else am I supposed to say when I AM REALLY like every inch of this book aside from the brutality scene happened in this book still, it makes me enjoy reading it and does not let me sit still as I need to know what happens next and now I have to wait for what will happen in the next series.
This is my first time reading a book written by Holly Black and I am 120% positive that I have absolutely enjoyed her writing. She won't give us a break and/or pause for even a minute. A well-written book that you cannot expect anything, you have to just follow the flow to see what will comes out upon you. Other than that, the story also consists of a love-hate relationship, the political issues in the courts of faeries, betrayal, an intense plot twist and so much for you to look out when you read The Cruel Prince. For that, I am looking forward to reading her next book.
The Cruel Prince is absolutely a terrific story of a human-faeries story and I seriously recommended you to read this. GO AND READ IT!
