Brand new Wilbur Smith series for readers of 9+ - starring fourteen-year-old Jack Courtney.

Jack Courtney has lived in London his whole life. But this summer his parents are travelling to the Democratic Republic of the Congo for a gorilla conference, and they've promised to take Jack and his friends with them.

When his parents go missing in the rainforest, abducted by mercenaries, nobody seems to have any answers. Jack is pretty sure that it's got something to do with the nearby tantalum mines, but he needs to prove it. Along with Amelia and Xander, Jack must brave the jungle to save his parents. Standing in his way is a member of his own family - Caleb Courtney.

There are western gorillas, forest elephants and hippos. But there are also bandits, mercenaries and hostile tribes. The three friends will need their wits about them if they are not only to save Jack's parents, but their own lives too.

thoughts

The story follows with Jack Courtney along with his parents and his two close friends travelling to Democratic Republic of Congo to attend a conference. While both of Jack's parents attending the conference, Jack and his friend also Jack's cousin, Caleb will be tag along for a tour to a safari - an eco-crusade, they said. However, things start going wrong ways and they need a plan to save Jack's parents who have been abducted.

Middle grade's adventure is always to be the most enjoyable reading which I am so excited to get down with it. Although, I need to admit that I didn't know anything about this book when I first received them and I'm not even checking out the blurb at all. I guess it makes me intrigued to dive into the story more from the beginning of the story.

I must say the premise really is interesting, a story that increases your curiosity to get to know the story itself of how it happened, who is who and why is why. This is my first time reading a book written by Wilbur Smith and I think I have fallen in love with the writing. The plot starts kinda really slow and pages after pages the speed kinda picking up. The story is full of surprises, heart-wrenching, unexpected secrets,, beautiful friendship also a story that warms my heart. All in all, it is really wonderful to follow these amazing characters to an unexpected adventure. I love it and really recommended to everyone who enjoys these kinds of adventure. Honestly, I'm looking forward to next Jack Courtney's adventure.

This book will be available at all good bookstores on March 21st, 2020.
