My mind when I saw this title without even looking at the blurbs; it was a love story but little did I know, it was more than a love story, not a typical love story you read. It was beyond that. It was an impressive story that I have ever read.
The story begins with Dannie's dream that felt so real. A dream that foresees her life in five years. In a different house with a different partner. She starts to wonder why would she dream like that?
"The memory was real, like I had, in fact, lived it."
I realize I rarely reading an adult/chick-lit genre so I'm quite picky when it comes to select my reading for this type of genre. When I saw many people been raving for this book on social media it makes me wonder and intrigued to read it. So, when I received it I couldn't help to finish all my current read just so I could concentrate to read In Five Years. What I felt after reading In Five Years? It was an impressive storyline, I cannot contain my emotions when reading the book, what I expected was wrong. Half of the book I was cried heavily. I love the friendship between Dannie and Bella. It was really the most beautiful friendship. To know what happened to Bella really break my heart.
"It feels impossible how much space there can be in this intimacy, how much privacy. And I think that maybe that is what love is. Not the absence of space but the acknowledgement of it, the thing that lives between the parts, the things that makes it possible not to be one, but to be different, to be two."
This is by far one of the best chick-lit/adult genres I have read in 2020. I love the way the story flows. It gives you a feeling of joy, happiness, beautiful friendship, heartwarming, the love also a heartwrenching story. No, it's not about a romance instead it is the acknowledgment of love and understanding. I seriously recommended anyone of you to read this book.
