Review

I rarely read non-fiction book. Surprisingly, I can follow it well.

In the past few months ago, if you have read my last post then you know what I/we been through. No, it is not easy.

A man, a husband to my mother, a father to us. We all need him and still is. When he passed away, I was lost. Looking at all his belonging, I broke down to heavy tears. Some of it, he has not yet wearing it but Allah swt has better plan for him and I accept and redho. He is in better place now.
"everything there was his, so everything reminded us of him."
Going through his belonging, all the memories rushing to our mind. Make us smile and cry at the same time. We are in the process of moving to a new house. It is for the best. No matter how much we love the house, I believe it will stays in our memories forever.

When we sort our his things, there are stories that I didn't know and some of it surprise me/us. Surprise in terms of how he cherish every gift we give to him that he decide to keep it instead of using it because he told our mom, he love the gift and he afraid that it will fragmented, ruptured. That makes us burst again.

There are many valid points that I took it and apply it the way it is the best for us. I did declutter some of his items. Some of which I give it to our soon to be brother in-law. The items that my father has not yet wear/using it. A brand new one. Instead of keeping it I rather give it to the a person we trust the most.

Overall, it is a good self-help book but I disagree some part of it. Every items that is belong to our family has it memories that we want to keep it. To me, I don't think so it call as a hoarder. You packing all the items and place it nicely and tightly in a box and arrange it at one place so, you will able to check it whenever you want and that is how we do it. As I said, i did declutter some items. Some are brand new that I give to a person that we trust, some of it was so old so unusable and it is better to throw it. 90% of his items are still intact and still with us.

Anyhow, it is a good guide and I understand the content and it offer an amazing tips in it but I can't apply some it in my life yet. To declutter my father's belonging when every item has stories in it, is not that easy. We are more emotional attach to his items. We are moving forward with our lives however we want it still be in our lives. I love how organize Matt Paxton's word in here and he help you step by step for you to moving forward with your life. So, if you ready to move to a new place to create new memories and ready to let go of your past then this book might suit you.
